I'm not quite ready to go to my new home.

Hi! My Name Is Wicket

I'm in the Recovery Room - I'll Be Available Soon

Hi! My name is Wicket – yes like the Ewok! I’m a former working man (commercial breeding) looking for my forever home. The vet thinks I may be a bit older (around 6 yrs), and tells me that I weigh about 45lbs.

I’m still a bit scared of this big, new world as a retired guy! I’m also still healing from a terrible tail infection I had when CEBR picked me up, but I’m learning to love the good life as I heal!

As I mentioned, I’m still a little scared but once I establish a safe space and safe people, I stick with it. Sometimes my foster family needs to lure me out of my open crate to give me pets and belly rubs. But once I’m out and know that’s what’s coming, I’ll join them where they are.

I’m a beautiful dark brown with an ivory mask on my face – hence my name! Foster family said I looked like an Ewok when they picked me up. I also kind of look like an otter swallowed a bulldog – LOL! I also have the biggest, sweetest, Precious Moments eyes – it’s easy for me to convince you to do anything I want with those!

I like toys – I have a stuffed cow (CowCow) that I still haven’t destroyed and I like to softly chew on him and I love a good collagen bone. I love it so much I hide in the corner when I chew it. I’m not aggressive about toys- I don’t like them being taken away, but I don’t get mean about it.

I’m pretty good about grooming – especially if it involves belly rubs! I’ll roll right over, even during a nail trim. I’ve had my backside cleaned A LOT (thanks to this lousy tail infection) and while I don’t like it, I still tolerate it.

I live with two canine foster sibs – we haven’t mingled yet, since I’m a bit timid (and they are NOT) and I’m still healing. I have met dogs on walks and I’m shy but okay. If they give me a growl, I cower away!

I’m 50% potty trained – I’ll pee outside when you take me out regularly, but I’m still working on pooping outside. I need privacy and quiet – too many scary noises and I run right back to the house.,

I LOVE food! It takes me a minute to get up and come to eat, but when I do it’s all gone! I am very picky about treats – I love chewy treats – Fromm’s Tenderollies are my favorite! And I love a dollop of whipped cream when I’m extra good or need to swallow yucky medicine.

If you’re down at my level, I’m a really snuggly guy – but you may have to convince me to come over. Once I do, don’t stop scratching! Ears, wrinkles, belly – I love getting scratched all over! When I’m not snuggling up, I like to play with my CowCow – my foster fam throws it around or plays keep away and I chase him. I’m not a fan of outside – it’s been too chilly for me to enjoy it and I’m not a fan of strange noises like the wind or garbage trucks.

I’ve only been around older (13+) kids and I do just fine, as long as no one is too noisy. Sometimes when they’re laughing and playing I go to my corner and bark at them. But I will warm up and come by them for pets when I’m ready.

I’m good with going up stairs, but going down is not so great – I can’t figure out to go one at a time so I wind up jumping down more than one and may hurt myself!

Do you have a quiet place for this retired gentleman to continue to come out of his shell? I’ll wait here with CowCow. -Love, Wicket
