Hello, my name is Spike and I am ready to mingle! I’m a 2-year-old male English Bulldog.
Sadly, I was abandoned by my previous owner at the vet with a prolapsed urethra which required surgery to fix. Ouch! I have been healing in my foster home for a few weeks and am happy to say I am feeling much better. This surgery did not phase me much at all, actually! I’m even house trained already.
Even though I’m two-years-old, I have bursts of puppy energy like no other. I can run and jump like a cheetah! My foster parents get a chuckle out of my typical morning zoomies and usually distract me with a bone or chew toy to get me to calm back down.
I am what some might call a shadow pup… as in, I’ll be your shadow! I am interested in what you are doing and will follow you all over the house. I will sit by your desk and watch you work. I will stare at you from the couch wherever you may go. I also have the impulse to jump up on you to say “Hello!” I’m not forceful and am just excited to see you, but my foster parents are working with me on this.
I am not too sure about other doggies yet. When I hear barking from neighbor dogs or when I see other dogs when I’m out and about for a walk, I get a little nervous. I may need to get some more friendly exposure to see how I feel. As of now, I’m most comfortable with my human friends.
When I am not following someone around or chewing on a toy or eating (which I get so excited about that I’m finished in seconds…) I’m happy to lounge on the couch or in my bed. But don’t be fooled… I basically sleep with one eye open and can be awoken by the slightest sound and be up and ready for the next activity!
All in all, I’m happy to be in a calm household with those who are ready to give me all kinds of attention – playtime or snuggles, I’ll take both!
