Moving to Miami? or. . . . . the Western Suburbs of Chicago. . . .
Golden Gal Lily here sending you a message from my new retirement community. I have the glamor of Blanche, the sweetness of Rose, and the toughness of Dorothy, but I'm not yet as old as Sophia.
My previous family unfortunately let me loose on the streets of the city to fend for myself as a 12 year old distinguished lady. I don't understand why they let me go, but life is complicated and it takes more than that to keep this tough cookie down. CACC found me, brought me in and immediately contacted CEBR to get me the love and care that I needed. They arranged a temporary but luxurious stay at a very lovely resort and boutique in the city so I could decompress before moving on to my new residence in the countryside (Florida may be an ideal retirement place for some, but it's just too hot and steamy for this bully gal, and I love the changes of the seasons). My new place is quiet and peaceful with gardens and wildlife. I enjoy short strolls on the grounds or an occasional gallop up the hill. I'm still building my strength back, but my enthusiasm is always there. The chef's menu here is designed to tempt me with lots of small meals and treats that will get my weight back up to normal (yes, ladies-- you CAN be too skinny). My new housemate is mostly a gentleman, but gets a bit forward sometimes with his play overtures (a bit handsy after he's had his breakfast) but he's respectful if I'm not in the mood to bat back or play bitey-face. I AM a lady after all. If the day is overcast, I prefer to nap with my tongue sticking out just a bit. If there's sunshine, I like to keep an eye on what's happening with the other human residents and see what they're up to. So far, I love all the new dogs I meet and enjoy all the social aspects of going out and about. I have a new wardrobe to keep me warm while I get a bit more svelte, and make sure that you can still see my tail wagging no matter what I'm wearing. I'm not big on stuffed toys, but my new hobby is working slowly on bully sticks even though my teeth could really use a bit of work. Once my weight is up a bit, I’m going to get some dental work, and a growth on my belly removed. I’ll be swimsuit ready in no time, I just know it.
It's just the beginning of settling in and my new chapter in life. I'll keep all my CEBR fans updated on what I get up to in my forever foster home! -Lily
