Sláinte! My name is Guinness. I’m a three-year-old male English Bulldog who came from a commercial breeder. The first thing people notice about me is my beautiful tri-colored coat that is black and tan and white, which is why Guinness is the perfect name for me! I have a big smooshy face that is so handsome. Despite my size (56 lbs), I'm still a puppy at heart, I love to run around the yard and am so very excited when it’s time to eat my food! I do get along with other dogs and cats very well, so a home with another dog or cat would be just fine! I have been told I am a strong healthy boy!
I am the perfect pet, because I do like to chill in my own space, especially when the sunlight is coming through the windows. I sleep up in the room with my foster parents and sleep all night long and am the happiest guy when I wake up. I am just learning how to play with toys, because I have never played with toys before, so this is a new experience for me. Sometimes I’m really curious about some things around the house, for example I like to open drawers with my teeth and play with shoes, but I don’t destroy them!
One thing I need to work on is house training. So far, I know when I go outside I get heavily praised and rewarded for going to the bathroom, however, I am not making the connection that I should not do this in the house, so this is a work in progress. I also get a little nervous when my harness gets put on, but I am really enjoying going for walks and I stay by my foster parent. When I’m walking, I have a very distinct prance that shows I’m so happy! I am also learning new commands, such as sit, stay, and come.
I am curious when my foster parents are eating food, but they don’t feed me their food, so I’m not expecting them to do that and I know my feeding schedule, so it’s fine. I do like getting treats when I do the right thing! I was a little nervous the first two weeks and stayed in my cage, but I love exploring different areas where I can chill. I do like to sit on the couch when my foster parents are watching tv and I love when they cuddle with me.
I would really enjoy a yard in the suburbs. I love to run and the sounds of city life are a bit overwhelming.
It’s time to say my Irish goodbye, but you know where to find me. I’ll be in my foster home, just dreaming of my forever home. Slan! -Guinness
