Meet Chuck — The Brave Little Bulldog Learning to Love Life
Hi! I’m Chuck, and opening up to people is kind of a big deal for me. I’m estimated to be around 4 years old and about 40lbs, and I came to the amazing folks at CEBR about two months ago. When I arrived, I wasn’t sure about anything. I came in as a stray, and… well, I don’t really talk about where I came from. What matters is that where I am now is so much better.
When I first got here, I was terrified. I didn’t want to leave my crate for anything. And when I finally did, I spent weeks hiding under a chair. But slowly, day by day, I found a little more courage. I learned that life feels safest on my foster mom’s lap — and honestly, that’s what I deserved all along.
I’ve been practicing walking on a leash, and I have to say, I move pretty fast for a bulldog! Now that the weather is cold, though, I’m thinking I might be more of a cozy indoor guy. I know I’m supposed to go potty outside, but… sometimes I just don’t feel like it. I’m trying, I promise!
I have a foster sister who has been such a big help. I feel really safe with her. I like being around the neighbor pups, too. I watch them play and think that maybe one day I’ll join in, but for now I’m still a little unsure.
I absolutely love to eat and sleep — those are my specialties. I’m happy snoozing on my bed, but if something is happening in the kitchen, guess where you’ll find me? I eat fast and furiously, and my humans keep trying to trick me with these slow-feeder bowls. They say it’s better for me… I guess they’re right.
I still have a lot to learn, and sometimes it feels like a lot of work. But my foster mom tells me to be patient with myself, and so far she’s been right about everything. This new life is pretty great, and I’m finally starting to believe I deserve it. If you’re a kind, patient human who understands that love grows slowly for dogs like me, I can’t wait to meet you. I’m ready for my forever home — one that feels safe, warm, and full of gentle encouragement. -Chuck
