Hey, how you doing? My name is John, I’m an English bulldog and I’m about 4 years old and 60lbs, and while you may think that is a silly name for a bulldog, I think it is just perfect for me. I have also been known to answer to Jonnie, Jonnie-boy, Baby boy and Pancake. Yes, the small humans that live in my foster home call me Pancake and I don’t hate it because I just love to eat. Give me a treat and I’ll sit, give you “paw” and look at you with the most beautiful brown eyes.
I love most everyone I meet including kids, cats and other dogs. My foster sister is teaching me how to wrestle which is fun! I used to be wary of grass because it feels weird on my paws but I’m a great listener when mom says it’s time to go out for potty or a walk (I always do my business outside too).
If there is one thing I love in life, it is a good soccer ball. Basketballs, kickballs and beachballs will also do the trick too. I just can’t help myself when I see a ball – it doesn’t matter who has it – it needs to be mine! Sometimes they go flat and everyone says “not again!” which I don’t really get because they seem to have an endless supply in my foster home. My foster family has started to keep me inside when the little humans play soccer until I can learn to share or control my love of balls. I whine about it but then I do tend to whine when things don’t go my way.
I love my current home in the suburbs but I think I would be okay most anywhere. I don’t love big noises like garbage trucks or fireworks (who does? right?) and I definitely make sure that I let everyone know when there is a knock at the door. I am happy to make myself comfortable most anywhere – on the floor, in a dog bed on the couch or even on a bed. I’m not a picky guy and my foster mom says that’s great.
The nice vet lady says I have wobbly knees which is one of the reasons I am so tall and slim in the back. They don’t seem to bother me one bit and I can walk, run (well, fast walk?) and jump with ease. I like to lay with my legs back on the floor and show off. I would be a great addition for a family that has time to play with me and tell me how handsome I am multiple times a day. Small kids who don’t understand my complete obsession with balls might not be the best choice. I love having a foster sister and those weird looking cat brothers; I think I might get lonely living alone.
So, whatcha think? Am I the pup for you? -John
