Resilient Raven - Ready to put down Roots
Hi there, I’m Raven! I’m an estimated four-year-old female bulldog mix, possibly with a little Frenchie in me. I weigh 42 pounds now, but I was fairly underweight when I first entered rescue. Thanks to my love for food, I’m getting so close to my ideal weight and am feeling energized to find my forever home!
I am an absolute sweetheart who loves belly rubs—I even purr like a cat when I get them! I have excellent manners and am fully potty trained. I’m great with stairs, which I know can be really important in the Chicago area, and am super easy going with my daily wrinkle cleaning and regular bathing, nail trimming, and ear cleaning. My fur is super soft and silky. I don’t pull on my leash when outside and I already know a couple basic commands like sit and shake. I’m a very teachable girl who makes strong eye contact with my foster parents when looking for guidance on how to behave. I sleep well in my crate overnight and when home alone. My long tail is always wagging because I’m just a happy girl who loves any attention from people that I can get - although I do spend the majority of my days sleeping and playing with toys.
While I adore people, I’m still learning how to be comfortable around other dogs. My foster family has been slowly trying to introduce me to my foster brother, but for now, I prefer to be the only dog in the home. My past is a bit of a mystery, but I do have some scars throughout my body that suggest I didn’t always have the best experiences with other dogs. Despite that, I’m incredibly loving and trusting with humans, and I’m eager to please.
I would thrive in a home where I can be the only pet, soaking up all the attention and love. Whether you live in the city or a quiet suburb, I’m adaptable as long as there is the ability to avoid other dogs. I’d love a family who will give me infinite belly rubs, and maybe even teach me a few more tricks (I’m a great listener!). I haven’t been around kids before, but I’m so gentle and affectionate that I could likely do well with respectful older children.
