I'm not quite ready to go to my new home.

Hi! My Name Is Bunkers

I'm in the Recovery Room - I'll Be Available Soon

Hello! My name is Bunkers. I’m a year-and-a-half old male English Bulldog. The first thing people notice about me is my big, teddy-bear face that lights up whenever I see someone new. I'm extremely friendly and want to make all the friends that I can. Despite my size (about 75lbs), I'm still very much a puppy at heart. I was very loved at my old home but I started having issues with one of the other dogs there and I needed to find a home where I would be able to be happy and stress-free.

I'm an extreme cuddler, when I'm cuddling I want to be as close to you as possible. I have incredibly soft fur and would love to rest my chin on your leg or shoulder for hours. When I'm not cuddling I'm either splooting on the floor or eager to play if my puppy energy is too much for me to ignore. When playing with me people need to be aware that I'm a big boy who doesn't know my own strength. I love to run and leap, but I need you to keep things relatively calm or else I can get overly excited.

My foster people say that I have FOMO when it comes to the household. If they go to a different room I want to follow them to see what's going on, even when it's just laundry or exercise. If they close a door I respect it and don't complain, but I'll sploot outside the closed door until they open it again. You do need to make sure you close an actual door though; I have no idea what a puppy gate is for and will push right through it if I'm able to. I want to explore everything that I can on my walks and am eager to try new or different routes to learn as much as I can about my new neighborhood. Plus, it gives me the chance to make brand new friends!

Other than "Bunkers" My foster people call me "Bunny Bunks" because I hop down the stairs with little bunny hops. I'm very comfortable leaping up the stairs with my high amounts of puppy energy, but I take very hesitant little bunny hops to descend. I never trip or fall but if you have stairs I may take a little while on them, maybe 1-2 minutes per story. I'm not super food-motivated, so you need to be very patient when I'm going down the stairs.

I'm 100% house-trained but I'm very quiet and don't really ask to go outside. As long as you remember to take me outside regularly, 3-4 times daily, and let me wander around until my business is done we won't have any problems.

I used to live in a small town and am still learning about life in the city. My foster parents are still trying to figure out why I might have had issues with one of the pups in my previous home. One thing to know about me is that I'm very jumpy when it comes to loud noises. I really don't like it when other dogs bark at me. I don't bark back or show any aggression, but I tend to shrink away if I hear repeated barking, even if it's a ways away and not directed at me. Beyond that I can startle easily at loud, unexpected noises; a garbage truck startled me one morning and I was reluctant to go outside for walks for a whole day afterwards.

Other than my issues with noise I'm very protective of my tail pocket. I have a corkscrew tail which requires regular cleaning and had a tail pocket infection when I first came to my new home. Antibiotics have mostly cleared up the infection but I'm still very reluctant to let anyone clean it given my past history. We're still working on me letting people clean my tail pocket and folds, but with enough turkey from the deli I'm willing to work on it. Despite not being very food-motivated I LOVE turkey.

My ideal home would be a calm, quiet environment where I can get lots of attention and playtime. I might do well with other pets in the household, but it would be case-specific. I'm friendly to kids I meet on the street but because I play with so much energy I'm probably better off in a home without small children. Can’t wait to meet you! -Bunkers
